Dr. Larissa Thomas grew up in Waldport on the Oregon Coast. After completing her undergraduate degree at Beloit College, summa cum laude, in biochemistry and modern dance, she lived in San Francisco for two years, then moved on to medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. After completing her internship and residency training at OHSU Cascades East in Klamath Falls, she spent five years working full scope rural family medicine in Burns where she met her partner. After a two-year adventure living and working in a rural community in the far south of New Zealand, Larissa and her family are excited to return to sunny eastern Oregon.
Larissa spends her free time enjoying her family, working in the garden, riding horses in the summer and knitting and practicing yoga in the winter. It is easy to distract her with these things during appointments because her favorite part about family medicine is developing long-standing relationships with her patients and seeing multiple generations of the same family. She has a particular interest in disease prevention, maximizing healthy habits and caring for young families.
